Prague, Prague? Prague!
In life we would not have thought of opening a café in Prague, but one thinks and life changes! It just happened like this. Do you know 1981 Second Hand? It’s a great chop shop founded by Bára and David (from Ostrava) in Prague. They’ve been doing pop-ups everywhere in Europe since about 2019 and about 4 times a year in Industra Brno! We love them and always spend all our tips with them :)) One day David says they have a space available for a cafe in their shop in Nusle, if we’re interested. And we said that when we are ever in Prague we will come and check it out! A year went by and we didn’t come to check it out.
After a year, David asks again and we go to check it out. And it’s quite a surprise! We were expecting a small corner somewhere at the end of the chopping block and it’s a great old garage, neither too small nor too big. This place has soul. It’s got a great yard, nice wood beams… it’s just awesome! So we’ll high-five the place, and then we’ll figure out we need someone to run the Prague Cafe. You can’t do this from Brno.

We foolishly post a call on instagram that we are looking for someone for the Prague project. And look at that! The earth trembled and Miro spoke up. Miro is from Slovakia but he has spent the last few years abroad, even in London where he worked for the same boss as Adam (Taylor st. Baristas). We sit down for a good first time. Miro has many projects in mind and an undying passion for coffee, just like us. We hang out in Brno for a while and then we’re off. Once he hangs his guru “Bača” on the wall, he has our full confidence.
So. In Nusle at Oldřichova 427/31, 128 00 Praha 2 you will find our punk café in the garage. You’ll find Miro there, and in the summertime, iced coffees, which we’ve perfected. In the winter, you’ll find the peace and atmosphere of Brno (or London?) take your pick. We love it there and we wish that the place will find its permanent guests, because it deserves it!
Miro and we really wish that the café in Prague would also be a meeting place for coffee professionals. So far we have had some great events like Take Over from London roasters Dark Arts or LOT from Slovakia. We have started a cupping club, which has already taken place not only in our café but also in the second round at our colleagues in Dos Mundos <3 We try to support charity projects by auctioning interesting coffees and merch. Kobliha Brno, Bůcheck Brno, Langoš Fry Day and others have already had their pop-ups with us. We are looking forward to what’s coming up next!
Opening hours are the same as in 1981 – Wednesday to Sunday 11 – 19. See you in Prague!
