About coffee
Mandarino is a regional blend of producers of South Huila. It is a classic profile easily found in this area, with chocolate, soft acidity and creamy body as main attributes. To create this blend, our importer partner with a well established commercial buyer based in Pitalito who receives tons of parchment daily. By adding a laboratory for coffee analysis in their warehouse, they can cup lots individually, separate them into cup profiles, and pay a premium to the owner of the coffee depending on the cup quality and yield. Mandarino was an easy name for this coffee because the acidity is soft and mandarine-like, and this is the most frequently grown fruit along coffee in farms.
Mandarino blend is grown in South Huila , at the doorstep of a UNESCO Biosphere reserve, the Colombian Massif, a place where mountains meet and rivers are born. It holds about 70% of Colombia’s freshwater, is the birthplace of 4 major rivers, and holds many protected national parks with unique ecosystems, endemic flora and fauna. This makes the soils rich and fertile for agriculture. This location explains why coffees thrives so much in Huila, now the biggest coffee producing region of Colombia. In addition to high volumes, Huila boasts the reputation for producing excellent cup quality and is considered the main region for colombian specialty coffee, thanks to the dedication and ingeniosity of its farmers.
We wanted to make it as easy as possible for you to choose your coffee, so we worked with the guys from Steezy Graphic Studio to come up with a “grid” – a simple grid where you can easily find the characteristics of each coffee.
The red dot next to the description of each coffee is placed exactly there, so that you can easily imagine how the coffee will taste.
Citrus – chocolate
Here we’d like to give you an idea of how fruity the coffee will be. There’s a long way from citrus to chocolate, so imagine more in between:
citrus, berries, green apples, red apples, stone fruits, dried fruits, nuts, milk chocolate and dark chocolate 😉
Mild – wild
What is mild coffee? We’d say it’s unpretentious. A coffee that you can just have every morning and not have to think too much about it. It’s just good.
The higher the dot, the more excitement you can expect in the taste of coffee. The more surprising and fun it can be. These coffees are fruity, fun, interesting and make you think about what it is that you actually enjoy about them so much.
